Morphology:
Difficult to distinguish from Platysphinx piabilis and Platysphinx stigmatica on external features, but differs from Platysphinx stigmatica in forewing underside lacking large red patches or red band below the discal cell. Ostium bursae very large with its edge produced at each side and, at the hinder margin, a long finger-like process.Sterigma convex proximally; postvaginal part very short, membranous, scaled and lacking a cavity behind.
