Proserpinus flavofasciata (Taxonomy)
Transferred to Proserpinus by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool.9 (suppl.): 609 (key), 613. This name also applies to the form in which the yellow hindwing band tends to be relatively broad and reaches the inner margin.
Forewing outer margin slightly sinuate near tornus. Upperside of head and thorax and end of abdomen except middle yellowish, rest of body deep black. Labial palps short, obtuse. Underside of thorax and legs black. Forewing upperside with a black antemedian band followed by a pale band with dispersed mostly grey scales. Hindwing upperside with a yellow discal band. Uncus slender, faintly spatulate. Gnathos much shorter than uncus, more than twice as broad, keeled, obtuse, gradually upcurved apically in lateral view. Harpe a straight tapering ridge that is not detached from the valve. Aedeagus with a prominent horizontal feebly curved pointed process.
