General description:
Transferred to Arctonotus by Smith, 1888, Trans. Amer. ent. Soc.15: 109 (as a queried combination), and by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool.9 (suppl.): 605 (key), 606. Returned to Proserpinus by Hodges, 1971, in Dominick et al.,Moths Amer. N. of Mexico21: 141. Erroneously treated as a species of Arctonotus by d'Abrera, [1987], Sphingidae Mundi: 156. Transferred back to Proserpinus by Carcasson & Heppner, 1996, Atlas Neotrop. Lepid.4B: 58.
Morphology:
Forewing upperside nearly uniformly greyish-green with darker green median band. Hindwing upperside with reddish basal area and greyish marginal band.
