Protambulyx astygonus
Diagnostic description:
Closely resembling Protambulyx goeldii but forewing lacking the large discal spot and the submarginal line of the hindwing crenulated, angled outwards on the veins.
Male genitalia: Uncus with prominent mesal process, but much shorter than in Protambulyx strigilis. Gnathos short, broad, widest at apex; apex weakly sinuate, angles rounded and projecting laterally. Valve with stridulatory scales in a narrow, elongate, reniform patch. Harpe with a long, obtuse, almost vertical tooth. Phallus with short tooth pointing sinistro-laterad.
Distribution:
Records from SE Peru remain to be confiirmed; they may be misidentified Protambulyx goeldii.
