Smerinthus jamaicensis
Similar to Smerinthus cerisyi and Smerinthus saliceti but lacks the apical claw on the foretibia and the flagellomeres of the antenna of the male are bipectinate. Hindwing upperside with pink area of outer border sharply defined, not fuzzy as in other species of Smerinthus.
Male genitalia: Uncus as in Smerinthus cerisyi but more dilated medially. Gnathos with medial lobe very slender. Juxta produced ventrally into long, pointed process. Valva narrower than in Smerinthus cerisyi and with apex less evenly rounded. Harpe short, rough and with tubercles at end. Phallus: apex with two strong points; vesica with a patch of small cornuti.
Female genitalia: Sterigma short, membranous. Ostium bursae large, its edge thickened at the side corners to a subglobose tubercle. Ductus bursae very broad and basal half heavily sclerotised. Corpus bursae much smaller than ductus bursae.
