Theretra orpheus
Hindwing crossveins straight, M1-M2 not or weakly curved. Antenna clubbed as in Theretra turneri. Labial palp segment 1 apical cavity sharply defined, the surrounding scaling more regular than in Theretra turneri. Inner hindtibial spurs shorter than usual. Midbasitarsal comb bristles long. Forewing upperside washed with "Prout's brown" or russet along the inner margin proximally and distally to a pale band between the fourth and fifth postmedial lines, and also between upper angle of discal cell and postmedial lines.
Male genitalia: Uncus similar to Theretra turneri but weakly dilated, rounded-truncate and slightly sinuate apically. Gnathos narrow, rounded apically, with a minute medial tooth. Valve with a single large, apically obtuse stridulatory scale .Harpe short, without free process. Phallus without armature, dorsal edge produced into a lobe, which is bent into the interior .
Female genitalia: Sterigma triangular, narrowly truncate. Ostium bursae opening a little anterior to the middle, its anterior edge raised, more strongly sclerotised than the sides, with some longitudinal wrinkles; no separate lobes.
