Theretra orpheus subsp. malgassica
Broader winged than Theretra orpheus pelius and Theretra orpheus scotinus; darker than Theretra orpheus orpheus and lighter than Theretra orpheus intensa. Forewing upperside with subapical area on costa and area between pale postmedial band and outer margin much lighter in tone than in Theretra orpheus intensa and grey (rather than brown). Forewing underside ground colour dull brown (rather than reddish, as in Theretra orpheus intensa); a white subapical area extending along the costa between Rs3 and Rs4 from the tip of Rs2 to the tip of R, enclosing a dark dot about 3 mm from wing apex, shading to yellowish posteriorly, and area along medial band apicad of it light-coloured. Hindwing underside ground colour dull brown (rather than reddish, as in Theretra orpheus intensa.
