Xylophanes cyrene
Diagnostic description:
Very similar to Xylophanes amadis but upperside ground colour brownish, even when fresh. Outer spur of midtibia shorter than inner. Outer spur of midtibia shorter than inner.Hindwing upperside similar to Xylophanes amadis but pale medial band always uninterrupted by black streaks along the veins.
Male genitalia: Very similar to those of Xylophanes amadis but: apical bar of phallus broader, shorter, tapering more quickly to a point, which is distinctly lateral in position; thorns reduced in both size and number, and sometimes completely lost. Vesica as Xylophanes meridanus but distal to diverticula the vesica turns at a right angle and is directed ventrally.
