Xylophanes damocrita
Ground colour of uppersides of forewings and body dark olive green or brown. Tegula dark olive-green with a median longitudinal dark golden-yellow line; another line of the same colour posterior to the tegula on the mesothorax. Abdomen laterally with a buff basal patch, posterior to which is an dark golden-yellow stripe. Outer spur of midtibia very slightly shorter than inner. Basal half of forewing upperside as far as third postmedial line dark olive-green or brown with a buff medial area; discal spot small, black, immediately distal of which, between M1 and M2, and M2 and M3, are two short, broad darker dashes; pale area between third and fourth postmedial bands conspicuous, joining a buff patch on the inner edge to a similarly coloured triangular preapical patch on the costa; fourth postmedial line well developed, the area between this and the fifth postmedial line dark orange. Hindwing upperside dark brown; medial band variable in width, dark orange.
Male genitalia: Uncus broader than in Xylophanes robinsonii, much less compressed apically, truncate-sinuate, angles rounded. Gnathos broader than in Xylophanes robinsonii, obtusely rounded, middle of apical margin projecting a very little. Harpe upcurved apically, compressed, slender. Apical process of phallus similar to that of Xylophanes germen germen; left lobe consisting of a small ridge bearing a few teeth, right lobe produced into a sharp tooth.
