Xylophanes fosteri
Most similar to Xylophanes turbata. Outer spur of midtibia half as long as inner. Forewing upperside as Xylophanes turbata but: two short dashes distal to discal spot blurred into a diffuse patch; first and second postmedial lines merged into a broad band at inner margin of wing, gradually diverging towards apex but disappearing by M1; fourth and fifth postmedial lines parallel between apex and Rs4, divergent from there to M3, then disappearing, fourth line represented only by vein dots; these pattern elements combine to give the effect of a displacement of the dark oblique band between M2 and M3. Male FWL: 30 mm; female FWL: 33 mm.
Male genitalia: Uncus sinuate at apex. Gnathos long, with a rounded apex. Stridulatory scales large. Harpe short, slender, tapering, with upcurved apex and a few very minute teeth at the tip. Phallus with an oblique row of teeth, the central part of the row situated on a slightly raised ridge, the parts to the right situated at the edge of a short obtuse process.
