Xylophanes guianensis
Similar overall to Xylophanes ceratomioides. Basal cilia of antennal flagellomeres longer than in similar species. Outer margin of forewing margin much more strongly scalloped than in Xylophanes ceratomioides. Dorsal lines of abdomen as in Xylophanes xylobotes. Outer spur of midtibia shorter than inner. Costa of forewing upperside with several conspicuous subapical and apical black spots, the largest subapical spot quadrate; most distal antemedial line and most basal postmedial line meet on inner edge of forewing upperside; postmedial lines clearly visible within the postmedial area, almost straight, except toward inner edge of wing (not scalloped as in Xylophanes ceratomioides); pale brown excavated area on outer margin of postmedial band narrow (more so than in Xylophanes xylobotes), rectangular and not well defined due to the visible presence within it of the third, fourth and fifth postmedial lines. Pale bands of hindwing upperside intermediate in coloration between those of Xylophanes ceratomioides and Xylophanes xylobotes.
Male genitalia: Uncus and gnathos longer and narrower than in Xylophanes ceratomioides. Harpe more strongly curved dorsad; more strongly dentate apically. Apical margin of phallus similar to that of Xylophanes ceratomioides but right side produced into a longer recurved hook and the left side with a broader, more regularly dentate process.
