Xylophanes josephinae
Most similar to Xylophanes damocrita but larger; forewing more elongate, making the outer margin appear almost straight; hindwing longer, apex clearly exceeding the forewing tornus in set specimens (reaching the tornus in Xylophanes damocrita). Forewing upperside similar to Xylophanes damocrita but: pale median area of the basal half of the wing less extensive, not crossing the basal parts of the first three postmedial lines so not linking with the pale line between the third and fourth postmedial lines; dark dashes distal to discal spot less clear; postmedial and submarginal lines straighter (as a consequence of the wing elongation). Medial band of hindwing upperside well developed only between the anal angle and M3, rapidly disappearing from that point towards the apex. FWL: 40-42 mm.
Male genitalia: Identical to the genitalia of Xylophanes damocrita except that the valves are apically more blunt.
