Xylophanes katharinae
Intermediate in forewing shape between Xylophanes damocrita and Xylophanes josephinae but immediately distinguishable from both by the much broader pale orange medial band on the hindwing upperside. Forewing apex slightly more elongate and pointed than in Xylophanes josephinae. Hindwing apex slightly exceeding forewing tornus in set specimens. Forewing upperside most similar to Xylophanes damocrita but: second and third postmedial lines diffuse and partially interrupted (sharp and narrow in Xylophanes damocrita and Xylophanes josephinae); pale area between third and fourth postmedial lines twice as wide. Medial band of hindwing upperside pale orange and twice as broad as marginal band (equal in width in Xylophanes damocrita and Xylophanes josephinae), outer margin almost even, inner margin prolonged along the veins as dark streaks for over half the width of the band.
