Xylophanes sarae
Morphology:
Similar to Xylophanes crotonis but smaller and upperside of body and forewings brownish-green. Forewing upperside brown with green highlights (not the olive-green colour of Xylophanes crotonis); basal black patch on inner margin more discrete than in Xylophanes crotonis and prolonged along the basal third of inner margin by a tuft of whitish-yellow scales. Wingspan: 68 ÔÇô 86 mm, average = 79 mm (n = 31). Wingspan: 75 ÔÇô 90 mm (n = 2). Aedeagus similar to that of Xylophanes kiefferi: left lobe of apical process long and slender, tapering at the end, and with a narrow and less rounded serrate flange along the anterior margin; right lobe long and ending in either a single sharp point or a series of small teeth.
