Forewing upperside very similar to Xylophanes thyelia thyelia but: anterior half of wing darker and more uniform; the pale apical area above Rs4 more sharply delineated; first postmedian line and short line basal to it merged and barely visible; pale area between second and fifth postmedian lines narrower, especially below M3, with third and fourth postmedian lines distinct and continuous along their entire length; second and third postmedian lines closer; Forewing underside as Xylophanes thyelia thyelia but: first and second postmedian lines more or less merged; third postmedian line stronger and more uniform; all lines directed more towards the apex; pale yellow patch distal to third postmedian line between M3 and CuA2 more sharply delineated. Hindwing underside as in Xylophanes thyelia thyelia but: pattern more contrasting; postmedian lines tending to merge together and more directed towards the apex (they are directed towards the costa in Xylophanes thyelia thyelia); fringe with more white scales.
