Most similar to Xylophanes eumedon. Tegula with a golden median line. Outer spur of midtibia longer than inner. Upperside of abdomen with two narrow, pale lines, divided medially by a sharp, broad olive-green or brown line of much greater width; the two pale lines merge into a single median line on the prothorax. Forewing upperside very similar to Xylophanes eumedon but first postmedial line not as broad and fourth postmedial line straighter in lower half. Forewing underside with apical area on costa of the same pale yellow colour as the area between the second and fourth postmedial lines. Medial band of the hindwing upperside with pale yellow spots distinct (as in Xylophanes aristor) and smaller, most apical spots often reduced in size and suffused with black.
Male genitalia: Uncus strongly convex apically, not sinuate. Harpe sharply pointed, curved upwards, irregularly notched. Phallus with right lobe of apical process curved proximad, quite broad and dentate; left lobe dentate, not connected to the right by a fold.
