Xylophanes xylobotes
Similar to Xylophanes ceratomioides, but paler. Black apical line of antenna very short. Forewing outer edge entire (slightly undulate as in Xylophanes ceratomioides). All three dorsal abdominal lines evenly narrrow and continuous (not posteriorly divergent and expanded into small, black, triangular patches on each tergite as in Xylophanes ceratomioides). Forewing upperside very similar in general pattern to Xylophanes ceratomioides but ground colour pale brown and black pattern elements less extensive; basal patch on inner edge pale greenish-buff (same colour as pale bands of hindwing upperside); costa with several vestigial subapical and apical black spots; most distal of antemedial lines transverse, then running along ventral edge of discal cell as far as M3; inner edge of oblique dark postmedial band straight (slightly undulate in Xylophanes ceratomioides), outer margin less deeply excavate and extending slightly further above M3 and below CuA2 than in Xylophanes ceratomioides, giving the pale brown patch a more narrow rectangular appearance; marginal area without black vein spots. Pale subbasal and medial bands of hindwing upperside fawn (off-white in Xylophanes ceratomioides).
Male genitalia: Similar to Xylophanes ceratomioides but: Gnathos somewhat shorter; Harpe more slender; Process of phallus much longer and narrower.
