Adhemarius sexoculata
Diagnostic description:
Similar to Adhemarius tigrina but: Forewing upperside subbasal band below discal cell broader. Hindwing upperside with subapical spots on veins CuA2 and 1A larger (forming "eyespots"), and an additional spot on vein CuA1 (hence "sexoculata"); base pink (yellow in Adhemarius tigrina); middle and outermost of the three bands of yellow patches merged longitudinally into streaks (separate in Adhemarius tigrina). Hindwing underside without a prominent, nearly straight transverse medial line.
Male genitalia: Uncus as slender as Adhemarius palmeri. Gnathos as in Adhemarius tigrina. Harpe even less raised from plane of valve than in Adhemarius gannascus, submedial ridge especially low. Phallus with a rather prominent apical rod-like carina.
