Afroclanis neavi
Similar to Afroclanis calcareus but immediately distinguishable by the bicoloured thorax. Thorax pale brown, contrasting strongly with the dark brown tegulae. Forewing upperside most similar to Pseudopolyptychus foliaceus, differing from Afroclanis calcareus in the subapical dark brown patch being pointed where it meets M1. Hindwing upperside orange (as in Afroclanis calcareus).
Male genitalia: Similar to Afroclanis calcareus but: Uncus with apical lateral spines longer and sharper, with a number of smaller spines along the distal margin between the two large spines.valve with a dense cushion of setae near centre. Harpe more spinose. Phallus lacking the apical rounded spinose structure.
Female genitalia: Very similar to Afroclanis calcareus but: Lamella postvaginalis broader and more regular. Antrum longer and narrower. Base of corpus bursae not sclerotized.
