Agrius luctifera
Reminiscent of Sphinx maura in that the metanotum has conspicuous yellow tufts but with an additional smaller yellow spot posteriorly on either side of the mesonotum. Slight sexual dimorphism, forewing lines less distinct than in male. Dorsal black abdominal line present but not strongly marked; bases of the abdominal tergites white laterally. Discal spot white, conspicuous. Hindwing upperside entirely shaded blackish-brown, black bands indistinct.
Male genitalia: Uncus more triangular than other Agrius, much less dilated apically. Harpe with two upwardly curved, pointed processes, lowest shortest; similar to that of Agrius cingulata.
Female genitalia: Ostium bursae with no obvious tubercles laterally. Flap anterior to ostium bursae almost the same as in Agrius cingulata, more strongly sclerotized than in Agrius convolvuli.
