Holotype ♂ [Indonesia:] Sumatra [Sumatera], Lebong-Tandai, Benkoelen District [Bengkulu], 1912-1919 (C.J. Brooks) [NHMUK].

Taxonomic Notes:

Proposed as a subspecies of Oxyambulyx liturata. Raised to species status by Clark, 1927, Proc. New Engl. zool. Club 9: 109. Treated as a subspecies of Oxyambulyx liturata by Seitz, 1928, in Seitz (ed.), Die Gross-Schmett. Erde 10: 534. Raised again to species status by Diehl, 1982, Heterocera Sumatrana 1: 17. Transferred to Ambulyx by Holloway, 1987, Moths of Borneo 3: 129.
