Ambulyx tondanoi (Clark, 1930)

General pattern very similar to Ambulyx substrigilis. Ground colour of forewing upperside light yellowish-brown ("sayal-brown") with darker markings; basal costal spot absent; large (4 mm) subbasal spot present (very similar in form to that of Ambulyx substrigilis); dark, 3 mm diameter, circular patch present between CuA₁ and CuA₂ near tornus; dark distal submarginal band narrow (3 mm at widest point on M1), its basal half darkest ) as in Ambulyx substrigilis). Forewing underside bright yellow with a slight scattering of dark dots in the apical half; a prominent light brown circular patch present between CuA₁ and CuA₂ matching that on the upperside; basal half of marginal band darker than distal half. Hindwing upperside similar to Ambulyx substrigilis, but ground colour lighter and marginal distal band heavier. Hindwing underside bright yellow with a slight scattering of dark dots in the apical half; medial, submarginal and marginal transverse bands present, as in Ambulyx substrigilis, but marginal band heavier.
