Type data:
TYPE(S) [♀] Solomon Is: Guadalcanal (Woodford) [NHMUK]. Eitschberger & Melichar, 2009, Neue ent. Nachr. 63: 120, erroneously interpreted the single female with appropriate data in the NHMUK as a holotype. Rothschild (1894) described Angonyx boisduvali from an unstated number of specimens of unstated sex. Contrary to the opinion of Eitschberger & Melichar, 2009, Neue ent. Nachr. 63: 120, there is no unequivocal statement in the original description that Rothschild had only a single specimen. Rothschild (1919, Novit. Zool. 26: 82) did not explicitly identify a particular specimen as the type of Angonyx boisduvali and so did not implicitly designate a lectotype. Neither can his statement be taken as evidence from which to infer a holotype.
