LECTOTYPE ♂ [Indonesia: Maluku,] Halmeira [Halmahera] [CMNH]; designated by Kitching & Cadiou, 2000, Hawkmoths of the world: 133. Moulds, 1985, Aust. ent. Mag. 12: 87, incorrectly stated that no specimen with the locality given in the original description could be found in CMNH, MNHN or NHMUK. The female from Java that Moulds listed as holotype is not (see also M. fringilla).
