Macroglossum haslami subsp. kishidai Cadiou, 1998

Proposed as a subspecies of Macroglossum haslami. Raised to species status by Eitschberger, 2010, Neue ent. Nachr. 65: 156. Resynonymized with Macroglossum haslami as a subspecies by Kitching and Rougerie et al., 2018, Biodivers. Data J. 6: e22236. Eitschberger (2010: 156) raised Macroglossum haslami kishidai to species status on the basis of the slightly longer apical phallus process and, particularly, the somewhat shorter and slightly wider cornuti, a feature that he considered should be accorded high taxonomic significance in the genus Macroglossum. However, compared to the differences between other Macroglossum species, these two differences are quite minor and Macroglossum kishidai is here returned to the status of a subspecies of Macroglossum haslami.
