Taxonomic Notes:
Proposed as a subspecies of Marumba cristata. Raised to species status by Eitschberger, 2015, Neue ent. Nachr. 70: 7. Resynonymized with Marumba cristata as a subspecies by Kitching and Rougerie et al., 2018, Biodivers. Data J. 6: e22236.
Eitschberger (2015) (STI 20855) characterized this taxon by its small size, rather delicate general appearance, broad stocky forewings with barely crenulated outer edges, and small male genitalia. However, although populations of Marumba cristata from Jiangxi and Fujian are very similar, differing only in having slightly more elongate forewings than typical Marumba cristata centrosinica, they cluster within Marumba cristata titan based on DNA barcodes. Consequently, given the morphological coherence of the group, Marumba cristata centrosinica is treated here as a subspecies of Marumba cristata.
