Only confirmed records of Atemnora westermannii westermannii in west and west-central Africa are mapped here. In west and central Africa, records of Atemnora westermannii from Sierra Leone, Liberia, Equatorial Guinea (Bioko) and São Tomé have yet to be confirmed by critical morphological and DNA barcoding analysis. All populations in east Africa (Ethiopia to Angola, Zimbabwe) are interpreted as being Atemnora westermannii eastermanni given that specimens from Kenya, Tanzania and Angola all DNA barcode as this subspecies and there are currently no records of Atemnora cadioui from east Africa. The population on Madagascar is Atemnora westermannii malgermanni.
