Basiothia laticornis
Similar in overall shape to Basiothia medea but immediately distinguishable by the generally brown forewing and hindwing uppersides. Antennae strongly clubbed in both sexes, noticeably longer and thicker in the male. Forewing upperside purplish-brown; three antemedial lines present, lines 2 and 3 closer together; a darker brown patch distal to apex of discal cell; three postmedial lines present: line 1 distinct posteriorly, line 2 indistinct, the space between darker brown; line 3 parallel to margin and curving costad, similar to Basiothia medea, the space between lines 2 and 3 purplish-brown; a trace of an oblique apical line present.
Male genitalia: Uncus similar to Basiothia medea but only very weakly sinuate. Gnathos more pointed than in Basiothia medea. Harpe, in lateral view, gradually narrowed to a point, slender, gently curved, sabre-shaped, slightly dilated apically in ventral view. Phallus with left and right processes elongate, oblique, pointing somewhat distad, the left process slender.
