Basiothia medea
An unmistakable species with its almost uniform green forewing upperside and orange-yellow (occasionally dark orange-brown) hindwing upperside with a narrow dark brown marginal band. Antennae strongly clubbed in both sexes, antennae of male not much longer or thicker than those of the females. Eye lashes conspicuous. Posterior margins of abdominal tergites with numerous weak spines. Scaling at apex of inner surface of labial palp segment 1 dense and regular; outer side strongly convex, with a transverse crest of scales, reminiscent of but smaller than that in Sphingonaepiopsis; inner surface of second segment without apical tuft. Forewing upperside green (fading to brown with age or exposure to humid environments post-mortem), with traces of darker green transverse lines and a small brown tornal patch
Male genitalia: Uncus elongate-triangular, subcarinate basally and impressed laterally, sinuate apically and slightly curved ventrad. Gnathos triangular, obtusely rounded apically. Harpe long, slender, compressed, slightly spatulate, apically obtuse. Phallus with left and right apical dentate processes, right process longer than left.
