Basiothia schenki
Habitus: Antennae very thick in the male, apical hook abrupt.Abdomen with a single longitudinal dorsal white line. Labial palp segments 1 and 2 strongly convex, segment 1 with a fringe along the inner edge similar to the crest in Basiothia medea. Outer row of spines on foreleg basitarsus segment double. Forewing upperside with a dark brown triangular patch running obliquely from the inner margin to the costa subapically; bordered distally by a broad pale brown band that runs parallel and to the apex, and within which there is a narrow darker brown line near the distal edge; veins M1 to 1A+2A conspicuously highlighted in white where they cross the dark brown triangular patch. Hindwing underside orange pink with a brown marginal band (similar to Hippotion boerhaviae and relatives).
Male genitalia: Uncus gradually tapering, rounded apically. Gnathos concave and transversely rugose above, convex beneath, apex obtusely rounded. Harpe slender, slightly sigmoid, compressed, apex somewhat dilated, with upper surface concave. Phallus with a short row of teeth on the left side, and a short dentate apical process on the right.
Female genitalia: Edge of ostium bursae weakly sclerotized, not distinctly raised.Sterigma cavity anterior to ostium bursae large.
