Pantophaea scheveni Carcasson, 1972

Eitschberger & Melichar (2016) placed Macropoliana scheveni in a new monobasic genus, Carcassonia, which they diagnosed on the basis of a number of features of the male and female genitalia. In particular, with regard to the male genitalia, they noted that the two uncus lobes are not fused, but are closer than in Afrogramma [= Psilogramma, q.v.]; the median gnathos plate is clearly visible and its posterior margin is indented; the stridulatory scales are narrower than in Macropoliana but not as narrow as in Afrogramma [= Psilogramma] asirensis; the harpe is similar to Afrogramma [= Psilogramma]; the phallus is about as long as in Afrogramma [= Psilogramma] asirensis; the ejaculatory duct [= cuticular simplex] is slightly shorter than the phallus; the posterior end of the phallus bears a thorn-shaped cornutus that is not located on an elongate sclerotized bar (as in Macropoliana); and the vesica is cylindrical and has two small diverticula. With regard to the female genitalia, Eitschberger & Melichar (2016) noted that the ostium bursae is surrounded by a strong sclerotized ring. Although these features do serve to distinguish Carcassonia from the other genera that were treated by Eitschberger & Melichar (2016), they are all nearly identical with the conditions of those structures observed in Pantophaea oneili (q.v.), a genus and species not considered by Eitschberger & Melichar. In particular, the form of the phallus and ostium bursae are almost identical. This close structural similarity suggests that these two taxa are congeneric. Consequently, rather than recognizing yet another monobasic genus, it is here considered preferable to include Macropoliana scheveni in the genus Pantophaea.
