Type species: Sphinx hylas Linnaeus, 1771, by subsequent designation by Grote & Robinson, 1865, Proc. ent. Soc. Philad., 5: 172. Sphinx hylas was incorrectly attributed to Fabricius both by Hübner and by Grote & Robinson.
