Ceratomia amyntor
Distal margin of forewing straighter than in the other species of the genus, somewhat sinuate anterior to the hind angle. Foretarsus with 1st segment shorter in the male than in the female. Hindtibia with long terminal spur 2/3rds the length of the 1st hindtarsal segment. Forewing upperside sometimes with a whitish flush, in which case the underside is more grey than usual.
Male genitalia: Uncus broad, prismatical, subcarinate ventrally, slightly convex dorsally, curved, a little dilated ventrad before apex, ending in a short hook. Gnathos narrow, the mesial lobe divided by a narrow slit into 2 slender, elongate, triangular, pointed lobes that are somewhat curved dorsad. Valve roundly oblique ventrally, almost straight dorsally, somewhat dilated dorso-apically. Harpe short, nearly oblong, truncate distally, with the angles rounded, concave proximally, the apical surface and edge rough with sharp tubercles and teeth. Phallus with a rather short, conical, horizontal, apical tooth that points slightly distad.
Female genitalia: Ostial plate almost entirely membranous, wrinkled, covered with scales laterally to the ostium, which is antemedian; the anterior margin of the ostium not produced into a prominent ridge or flap, and thus more or less open.
