Clanis surigaoensis
Diagnostic description:
Very similar to Clanis titan, but: Forewing apex more attenuated and slightly falcate. Large cinnamon-coloured costal patch of forewing upperside not evenly curved distally between veins R1 and R3, as it is in Clanis titan, but fairly straight, then following R3 to distal margin, making an obtuse angle. Forewing underside paler, the three subapical transverse lines obscure. Hindwing upperside darker throughout. FWL: 78 mm.
Male genitalia: Similar to those of Clanis titan but: Hook of uncus longer. Strongly sclerotized flap of the harpe reduced to a smooth sharp tooth (in Clanis titan there is a row of prominent irregular teeth). Valve apodeme with prominent tubercles (in Clanis titan there are very few).
