Coelonia brevis
Similar to Coelonia fulvinotata fulvinotata but wings shorter, broader and more rounded. Antenna thicker than Coelonia fulvinotata fulvinotata. Metanotum without pinkish coloration. Forewing upperside intermediate between Coelonia fulvinotata fulvinotata and Coelonia solani solani; ground colour greyer than Coelonia fulvinotata fulvinotata. Hindwing upperside basally yellow, this area not enclosing a black patch. Hindwing underside white basally and along inner margin (as in Coelonia solani solani). Male: Forewing length: 39 mm.
Male genitalia: Uncus in dorsal view elliptically widened before apex, which is narrow and truncate; in lateral view, apex only slightly narrowed, downcurved, truncate, upper angle produced as a small sharp tooth. Gnathos truncate, angles very strongly rounded, apical margin not incurved. Valve with patch of large, yellowish, multidentate, strongly striate stridulatory scales; inner surface with patch of short spines distal of harpe; apical area with numerous long setae pointing obliquely anterior. Harpe similar to Coelonia fulvinotata fulvinotata, with two upcurved hooks, upper longer than lower.
