Coequosa triangularis
An unmistakable large sphingid; forewing upperside pattern reminiscent of a species of Clanis but the triangular patch on the costa darker than the surrounding wing area rather than paler. Forewing upperside with a large brown triangular patch on the costa, bordered with a broad band of diffuse white scales that are most intense on the costa distal to the patch and becoming more dispersed posteriad; discal spot inconspicuous. Hindwing upperside with a narrow basal orange patch, distally brown.
Male genitalia: Uncus longitudinally impressed, slender, downcurved, apically broadened. Gnathos with a median lobe that is broader than long and strongly or moderately rounded. Valve as broad as in Coequosa australasiae. Harpe reminiscent of those of Agrius and Acherontia; relatively short, with two processes, one apical, the other subapically on the dorsal edge, both upcurved. Phallus dorsally carinate.
Female genitalia: Tergite A8 rather longer than in Coequosa australasiae, weakly emarginate medially. Sterigma differing markedly from Coequosa australasiae; ostium bursae median, very large, anterior and lateral edges strongly sclerotized, posterior edge somewhat raised; remainder of the lamella antevaginalis membranous with setose tubercles; lamella postvaginalis transverse, triangular medially, apically slightly sinuate.
