Smerinthulus olivacea
Habitus: Similar in general appearance to Smerinthulus diehli, but the hindwings are less pink and the bands on the forewing are yellowish rather than whitish. The apex of the forewing is less strongly produced.
Male genitalia: Uncus with a medial groove; each side with a subapical excavation; apex bifurcate. Gnathos absent. Valva broad, approximately rounded; dorsal margin thickened and turned inwards ending in two teeth; two folds run from position of teeth with a third fold more proximal. Harpe composed of a sunken sclerotized plate with upper margin produced into two slender, curved pointed processes directed basally. Phallus lacking armature.
A possible specimen of Smerinthus olivacea from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China, posted by Xu Zhenbang to the Sphingidae Facebook group on 6.ii.2022, remains to be confirmed; it is not mapped here.
