Dolba
Head with scaling long, hanging over eyes. Hindwing with cross-vein m2-m3 as long as, or a little shorter than m3-cua1. Antenna thickest in basal half. Abdomen upperside with scales at lateral edge of 7th tergite prolonged into distinct tufts reminiscent of Macroglossum. Palp rough scaled. Tibiae not spinose. Tarsi with 1st segment shorter than tibiae. Foretarsus with 1st segment with a number of spines externally at base, in addition to a normal 1st row. Midtarsus with comb. Pulvillus and arolium present.
Male genitalia: Uncus prismatically compressed, the under surface reduced almost to a line, dilated ventrad subapically, the apex sharply hooked; the dilated part rough with wrinkles and granules. Gnathos similar to that of Manduca sexta, with parallel side margins turned upwards and inwards just before apex. Valve elongate sole-shaped. Harpe triangular, produced into an obtuse ventro-distal process; the surface somewhat concave, with scattered scales, the edges not dentate. Juxta short, triangular, obtuse. Phallus with an apical, almost horizontal tooth pointing dextro-laterad and somewhat distad, similar to that in Manduca rustica.
Female genitalia: Ostial plate broadly rounded proximally, produced anterior to the medial, transverse ostial cavity into a broad, irregularly notched ridge that in ventral view covers the ostial cavity completely; the post-ostial part of plate more or less membranous, rounded, scaled, apart from the midline.
The holotype of Dolba schausi was said to come from Cauca Valley, Colombia but this locality was considered to be erroenous by Kitching & Cadiou (2000) (STI18788); it is not mapped here.
