Eumorpha achemon (Taxonomy)
Transferred to Eumorpha by Hodges, in Dominick et al., 1971, Moths Amer. N. of Mexico21: 122 (key), 124.
Immediately distinguished from all other species of Eumorpha by the hindwing upperside being almost uniformly pale pink from the base to the diffuse, dark brown submarginal band. Hindwing with M2 arising at or anterior to the midline of the discal cell, crossvein m1ÔÇôm2 longer than m2ÔÇôm3. Labial palp segment 1 without a white spot. Foretarsus with external row of spines somewhat elongated. Uncus widest beyond midpoint in lateral view; apex thinned, sharply pointed, downcurved. Valve narrowed from midpoint to tip, dorsal margin convex near base then nearly straight, a large subapical patch of bristles on inner face. Harpe similar to Eumorpha satellitia satellitia but shorter. Aedeagus with a slender pointed process.
