Eumorpha anchemolus (Taxonomy)
Synonymized with Philampelus satellitia as "var. obscurior" by Burmeister, 1855, Abh. naturforsch. Ges. Halle3 (4) (Sber.): 60. A large, rather nondescript species. Forewing outer margin slightly crenulated. Most similar to Eumorpha triangulum but forewing upperside pattern less contrasting and variegated and subapical costal patch truncate on Rs4. Forewing upperside with conspicuous white fringe along posterior margin from near base to beyond the median rhombiform patch. Forecoxa with very strongly developed hair-pencil. Tibiae broad, especially the posterior; spurs almost hidden by the scaling. Hindbasitarsus also broad; very few spines in the outer series, the second series with many spines. Uncus rounded-truncate apically. Valve elongate, dorsal margin nearly straight, slightly concave, with no patch of bristles on inner face. Harpe long, flattened, straight, ending in a short acute hook of slightly variable length. Aedeagus with an acute and rather slender apical process.
