Eumorpha capronnieri (Taxonomy)
General description:
Transferred to Eumorpha by d'Abrera, [1987], Sphingidae Mundi: 124.
Morphology:
Similar to Eumorpha phorbas but readily distinguished by the forewing upperside pattern of mottled green and brown areas. Base of hindwing M2 posterior to midline of discal cell; crossvein m2-m3 usually clearly shorter than m1-m2 (as in Eumorpha phorbas). Head and mesonotum with blackish-brown mesial stripe (green in Eumorpha phorbas). Abdomen with subdorsal brown stripes narrow on tergite 1-4, widened on tergite 5 and 6 to form two triangular patches. Underside of wings and body less yellow than Eumorpha phorbas, especially in the female. Hindwing upperside similar to Eumorpha phorbas. Almost identical to Eumorpha phorbas, but harpe less bent away from valve.
