Eumorpha elisa (Smyth, 1901)

A greenish-grey species, generally recognizable by the rhombiform patch on the posterior margin of the hindwing upperside having darker basal and distal edges. Labial palp short white spot. Abdominal segments 2 and 3 each with a pair of black subdorsal patches. Forewing upperside ground colour greyish-brown with darker greenish-grey markings; discal spot absent; costal semicircle at apex of discal cell very sharply marked, more so than antemedian line; a black subbasal patch present on the posterior margin, separate from the rhombiform median patch, the latter extended basad along the CuP fold, the border of the patch darker than the centre. Hindbasitarsus as long as hindtibia, and equal to tarsomeres 2-4 together. Uncus sharply pointed, apex downcurved, almost hooked. Valve dorsal margin concave, without a patch of bristles on inner face. Harpe similar to Eumorpha satellitia satellitia but stouter, vertical part of hook less evenly curved and longer, slightly bent basad at tip. Aedeagus more slender than Eumorpha satellitia satellitia.
