STI taxonomic comments:
The specimens of Ambulyx substrigilis from Karnataka are probably misidentified Ambulyx substrigilis aglaia, Ambulyx sinjaevi, Ambulyx matti or possibly Ambulyx auripennis. From the line drawings of the male genitalia, the Ambulyx obliterata from Assam appears to be a misidentified Ambulyx ochracea but the wing pattern is not entirely consistent; certainly it is not Ambulyx obliterata. The record of Ambulyx moorei is well out of the current known range of the species and requires confirmation.
