Hemeroplanes longistriga (Taxonomy)
Transferred to Hemeroplanes by Hodges, 1971, in Dominick et al., Moths Amer. N. of Mexico21: 108.
Immediately distinguished from other members of Hemeroplanes by the very long silver mark on the forewing upperside and lack of yellow bands on the upperside of the abdomen. Abdomen similar to that of Hemeroplanes ornatus, but lacking visible yellow bands. Forewing upperside similar to Hemeroplanes triptolemus, but silver mark very long, 10 mm, reaching beyond the postmedian line, forked basally, posterior branch longer than anterior; black submarginal band longer than in Hemeroplanes triptolemus and Hemeroplanes ornatus, reaching from tip of wing to M3. Brownish marginal scaling visible near costa. Harpe similar to that of Hemeroplanes triptolemus, more strongly curved and more abruptly acuminate.
