Isognathus caricae subsp. rainermarxi
Slightly larger in general than Isognathus caricae caricae (wingspan about 1 cm greater). Forewing upperside almost identical to Isognathus caricae caricae but ground colour paler grey so that the banding pattern stands out more clearly. Black streaks along the veins of hindwing upperside broader at the level of the middle of the marginal band, there often nearly confluent, especially in the female. Forewing broader and outer margin more rounded than Isognathus caricae caricae. Very similar to those of Isognathus caricae caricae but:Hairs on sacculus longer and thicker.Harpe shorter, basally thicker, apically not spatulate and armed with larger teeth.Apical setae of aedeagus arranged in two rows, one of nine and one of two (six and one in Isognathus caricae caricae). Very similar to those of Isognathus caricae caricae but:Signum somewhat shorter.
