Taxonomic Notes:
Synonymized with Cerberonoton rubescens thielei by Kitching and Rougerie et al., 2018, Biodivers. Data J. 6: e22236.
The purported diagnostic morphological characters all fall within the range of intrasubspecific variation of Cerberonoton rubescens thielei. Furthermore, the DNA barcode of holotype of Meganoton loeffleri is only 0.77% different from that of a specimen of Cerberonoton rubescens thielei from SE Borneo and is nested within a cluster of samples of that subspecies from Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and Java. Consequently, there is no justification for either species or subspecies status for loeffleri.
