Syntypes [at least 1♂ & 1♀] Zambesi River [Mozambique/Zimbabwe/Zambia] [coll. Waller; types lost].
A. Waller's collection was sold through Stevens' salerooms on 25.iii.1890 (The Athenaeum 1890: 327). The type specimens that it contained are assumed to be lost (manuscript note in the handwriting of G.F. Hampson in the NHMUK Ground Floor Library copy of Walker, 1854-5, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus. 1-3). Boisduval, 1875, in: Boisduval & Guenée, Hist. nat. Insectes (Spec. gén. Lépid. Hétérocères) 1: 18, erroneously considered that Walker described this species from his own collection (i.e., coll. Walker, rather than coll. Waller!).
