Neoclanis basalis
Habitus: Distinctive in having the forewing upperside pale greyish green densely speckled with darker spots, and the more heavily speckled hindwing with the large red patch at its base. 30-40 mm. Similar to male but larger, wings broader and more heavily speckled. Up to 50 mm.
Male genitalia: Differs from species of Leucophlebia and Leptoclanis in: Uncus deeply divided. Gnathos slender and pointed, as long as uncus lobes Valva lacking projections at base, entire, rounded. Harpe basal, long and broad and terminating in a rounded upright lobe with small spines. Phallus strongly bent, unlike in Leucophlebia and Leptoclanis.
Female genitalia: Sterigma divided into two rounded lobes. Ductus bursae long (as long as corpus bursae), membranous. Corpus bursa differs from Leptoclanis in lacking a signum.
