Neopolyptychus pygarga
Diagnostic description:
One of the "large" Neopolyptychus that are indistinguishable on external appearance.
Male: FWL: (31-)33-38 mm, average = 36 mm.
Male genitalia: Dorsal apical process of valve in dorsal view posteriorly truncate with two rounded angles; a spinose, semicircular lobe present on its inner edge basally.
Female genitalia: As Neopolyptychus spurrelli but: Lamella postvaginalis broadly and evenly rounded. Ostium bursae flanked by a pair of slightly divergent, bluntly pointed processes that slightly exceed the posterior margin of the lamella postvaginalis.
Distribution:
The records from Angola and Namibia, each based on a single specimen, remain to be confirmed.
