Nyceryx furtadoi
Immediately distinguishable from all other species of Nyceryx by the relatively uniform ground colour of the forewing upperside, on which the transverse lines form a conspicuous striped pattern, and the oversized discal spots. Forewing upperside with pale brown ground colour, on which a series of narrow transverse lines (two basal, four antemedian and five postmedian) gives a striped effect; the most distal antemedian line and the most basal postmedian line separated by a very large discal spot, just distal of which is a smaller spot, both of which are finely outlined in white; dark patch midway along the inner margin divided longitudinally by a thin pale line along 1A+2A. Forewing underside with a less yellow and less contrasting pattern than in Nyceryx alophus alophus. Hindwing underside with a less yellow and less contrasting pattern than in Nyceryx alophus alophus. 60 mm. Similar to Nyceryx alophus alophus but:Harpe much more reduced and apically rounded.Aedeagus with a long, sigmoid whip.
